The WordPress plugin works great. Much better than the previous version. I also like the SEO-friendly aspect. But does anyone know how search engine optimization works using comments? Previously the code was javascript; what are they using now?

We're a retailer and our "blog post" is the products we sell. Customers can comment on whatever they want about the product. The issue is that JS-KIT, Disqus, etc integrate only with major blogs or offer a javascript only solution for embedded comments. It'd really be nice if comments could be embeddable and still be SEO friendly. I found a few PHP scripts from AdrianTNT and GentleSource which do this, but the functionality not quite there.

There aren't many blog owners that have had problems switching to Disqus. Only a few lost their comments in the process. Most of them are very happy and amazed that they were able to transfer every comment. Disqus has had enough time to prove it's a very good reliable service. Their support team is everywhere, answering on blogs when people complain, solving all sort of problems when asked and some problems even if they weren't asked. Simply because they offer a good service.

This is my first comment but I feel like I should have been making loads of comments now because I always like your stuff. Maybe comments are for more hit and miss blogs than your own. When you maintain a consistent level of high quality output I reckon people are less inclined to comment because they have come to expect it from you. Just a theory.

Never really occurred to me to leave a comment on the designboom weblog.. i mean sure, i read you guys everyday, but the posts i find interesting i fave or bookmark or share the url to others, rather than clicking the comment link.

It's good to know your stand towards this comment thing going on. I've visited some design sites before that I find have repetitive comments from visitors, might be one of those you were pertaining to.

I find I respect designboom more for the lack of comment obsession :)
